Los Angeles -- Because he is unafraid to reveal his humanity with all its frailities and misgivings. You go through the whole gambit of life with this guy and you end up with a life lesson that just maybe will make you an inch or two taller and a year or two wiser.
That is what Nicholas Sparks, the new master of the romantic novel does. His stories are a timeless purity of thought with an edginess that make his novels a memorable experience remembered for a lifetime.
"The Best Of Me" is his latest entry. The new James Marsden film looks at a love that just wouldn't die as hard as the two lovers tried well into their middle years. Like other Sparks novels there is a message and that underlining theme gradually takes shape and then slowly bonds to your heart like a well aged Merlot.
From the man who wrote the now considered modern classic "The Notebook", "Message In A Bottle", "A Walk To Remember", "Nights In Rodanthe" including three recent releases, "Dear John", "The Lucky One", "Safe Haven" comes a tale of love found, love lost and love regained only to be well let's just say mature beyond the usual suspects.
I read the novel and as soon as I was done I said this has got to be made into a moive. No sooner had I said this I received a media alert of the imminent release this year of the movie version of this heart warming story.
Sorry I am not a spoiler so you'll have to check it out when it is released. All I can tell you is brace yourself for the surprise of your life. It is not what you think and the ending is not, if they remained faithful to the book, and I don't see why not. It is a jaw dropper.
And now you know why I love this guy.
